Steps to Pay Off Your Mortgage Early
“What are the steps to pay off your mortgage early?” said John.
John was a friend of mine who wanted some advice.
He knew that I had taught these concepts in class to my students at my Debt Free Living Workshops. And he wanted to get out of debt – bad.
“There are 3 simple ways that you can pay off your mortgage faster,” I said
“Number one – let’s see where your current money is going. Do you have some credit card debt?”
“Yes.” he said.
“Well, the first step is to get rid of your credit card debt. It’s not as hard as you might think. Just focus some extra money on paying off one card at a time.” I explained.
“So, I should pay off the one with the highest interest rate?” asked John.
“No. That’s what the banks want you to think. It’s also the reason that you’re still in debt. Try focusing on the one with the lowest balance first.” I said.
“Why?” questioned John.
“Human nature got you into debt and human nature can help get you out. If you pay off the one with the lowest balance, then you’ll get rid of that credit card sooner. This will keep you more motivated to stay on the plan I’m about to show you.” I explained.
