9 Old Testament Prophesies Concerning the Messiah Fulfilled by Jesus

There are many prophecies that Jesus fulfilled but today I’ll mention nine of them. A certain mathematician (Peter Stoner) determined the chances of a person fulfilling just eight messianic prophecies to be 1 in 10 to the 17th power (10 times itself 17 times). In other words, the probability that Jesus “just happened” by chance to fulfill all these prophesies is so remote that it is next to impossible!

1. Jesus was born in Bethlehem as predicted in Micah 5:2; “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrata, too little to be among the clans of Judah. From you one will go forth for me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.” This prophecy will not be completely fulfilled until Jesus Christ comes back to set up his Kingdom which will happen at the appointed time.

2. He preformed many miracles as was foretold in Isaiah 35:5-6; “Then the eyes of the blind will be opened, the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. Then the lame will leap like a deer and the tongue of the mute will shout for joy. For waters will break forth in the wilderness and streams in the Aruba.”

3. Our Lord was preceded by a voice crying in the wilderness (John the Baptist) as mentioned in Isaiah 40:3; “A voice is calling, Clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness. Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God.” And as recorded in Malachi 3:1; “Behold, I am going to send My messenger and he will clear the way before Me and the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight. Behold, He is coming,” says the Lord of hosts.

4. Zechariah 11:12; speaks of Judas Iscariot’s betrayal of Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. I said to them, “If it is good in your sight, give me my wages but if not, never mind!” So they weighed out thirty shekels of silver as my wages.

5. Jesus was silent before his accusers, Isaiah 53:7; He was oppressed and He was afflicted yet He did not open His mouth. Like a lamb that is led to slaughter and like a sheep that is silent before its Shearer’s so he did not open his mouth.

6. Isaiah 53:9; describes the burial of Jesus. His grave was assigned with wicked men, yet He was with a rich man in His death because He had done no violence, neither was there any deceit in His mouth.

7. He spoke in parables so the wise and educated would not understand (Psalm 78:2). “I will open my mouth in a parable, I will utter dark sayings of old. Proverbs 1:6 states, “To understand a proverb and a figure, the words of the wise and their riddles.”

8. Psalm 22:16 refers to the crucifixion, “For dogs have compassed me, the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me, they pierced my hands and my feet…

9. Psalm 16:10, refers to the resurrection of Jesus, “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thy Holy One to see corruption” (corruption meaning decay or decomposer).

What’s more, it would be logical to believe that prophecies that have not yet been fulfilled will be, concerning the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Since so many biblical prophecies have already been fulfilled (in detail) with 100% accuracy. Why should we expect anything different in the future?

In this age there will always be those who will refuse to believe even with all the evidence right in front of them (Romans 1:20). It takes more faith to believe in evolution (yet that is what is taught in U.S. public schools) than it does to believe in the salvation offered through Christ Jesus.

Would it not be to your benefit to learn who is Jesus Christ?
