Learning Reiki

Reiki is the ancient Japanese technique of healing and wellness without medicine. You don’t pop pills, eat herbs or drink any special drinks to get well. But this does not detract from eating a balanced diet, avoiding unhealthy junk food or drinking enough water. All these basic practices of good health only serve to enhance your Reiki learning experience.Learning Reiki

Reiki is somewhat like traditional massage in its effects. It can relieve stress, improve blood circulation, reduce pain, increase immunity against sickness and promote healing of acute and chronic diseases such as asthma or arthritis. It is based on the principle that our bodies are a field of energy and if this energy becomes weakened or blocked, it disrupts our health. This belief is also found in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese practices like acupuncture. Reiki practitioners have been using Reiki techniques to heal bodies and enhance wellbeing for generations. They unblock and improve the flow of energy in the body. In fact, this is what gives Reiki its name. The word ‘Reiki’ means ‘universal life energy’ in Japanese.

Reiki practitioners identify energy sources or chakra in your body and energize them with their special Reiki methods. Once these chakras are energized, they alleviate the flow of energy through them. Each chakra is for a specific purpose. For example, one chakra is to increase your sense of safety and security, another is to enhance your sense of pleasure and fun and yet another enables you to communicate better with people. Reiki Masters

Reiki was originally formulated by Dr. Mikao Usui from Japan. He was intrigued by Jesus Christ and how He could heal people by laying his hands on them. So Dr. Usui did his own research and the result is the body of teaching we know today as Reiki.

Learning Reiki requires you to be trained. You could enroll in a school, engage a personal tutor or become self-taught. The last option is not encouraged. Enrolling into a school means you get to choose which school to join. You will find that each school has its own system and syllabus.

Reiki training comprises different levels or degrees. The lowest level involves learning the basics of Reiki like the beliefs, code of conduct and certain skills like how to hold your hands when conducting Reiki methods, as the hands are used a lot in Reiki.

The intermediate level trains you in using Reiki symbols. Each symbol energizes one particular chakra. You will also learn how to increase the flow of energy when you practice Reiki.Reiki

The highest level is where you are trained to become a Reiki Master. This is the most difficult part of the training but upon successful completion, you are qualified to initiate others into the Reiki training and conduct classes yourself.

Besides attending a Reiki school, you can learn all these techniques by engaging a personal tutor who is an experienced Reiki Master. This will give you the added advantage of personalized attention and likely improve your learning experience.
