How to Teacha Dog to Stop Jumping on You

Younger Dogs will jump up on people for two reasons. One is to greet them and the other is to be at human level. Dominant dogs will be the hardest to train to stop jumping as they want to be equal to the human. While it is cute for the young puppy to run and jump up on people, the older stronger adult dog that hasn’t been taught not to jump can easily knock young children over and dirty people’s clothes.

Therefore, it is imperative to teach a young dog not to jump up on people for their safety and yours.Start when the dog is young and praise him when all four feet are on the ground. Pet and calm him continually as you maintain contact on the ground with all fours. Playing with a puppy and allowing him to jump while playing will confuse the dog and just reinforce the behavior that it is ok to jump up on people.
