How to Putt Without These 3 Common Problems

At some point most golfers will develop a reoccurring putting problem that they need to identify and correct. Learning how to putt well is an ongoing processes and developing good fundamentals from the start is great but sometimes simple problems arise and all we need to do is make a few minor adjustments to get back on track. Here are three common putting problems that many golfers experience that only require a simple correction.

Correct Body Alignment: To make sure that your shoulders, feet and eyes are properly aligned to the target line you should mark your ball. By making a line on your ball as a guide you can better align your body to the target. This small guide also helps in getting your club head square to the target. Few weekend golfers will mark their balls while most professionals will use a line or the manufactures name as a guide.

Looking Up to Early: I would guess to say that the number one reason for missed putts is that the average golfer is looking up too soon. They peek before they have completely finished their stroke. To eliminate this problem count to two after you have completed your follow through stroke before looking up.

Lower Body Movement: To have the proper putting form the lower body needs to be stable during your stoke. If you are swaying too much then use a small pillow and lightly squeeze it between your thighs while your putting on the practice green. This will keep the lower body occupied and provide the feeling that any movement might cause the pillow to fall.
