Hearing a voice in your head…listen to it! open coffee shop
Open coffee shop…open coffee shop…open coffee shop… there is goes again. I keep getting that same thought in my head. Mostly when I’m at work.
Imagine not having to go to work in that dreaded cubicle day after day. How great would THAT feel? If you are like most of us, you think about how nice it would be to work for yourself instead of a demanding boss that doesn’t appreciate all you do. We hear that little voice inside telling us what to do but we usually don’t listen. For me, I always heard “open a coffee shop”.
Opening a coffee shop may be our ticket out of that job. Starting your own business is a great idea but it’s not going to be easy. Maybe you too have been thinking about starting a coffe shop but just never got around to it or found it to be just too complicated.
It’s a fact that many new business startups fail within two years. I did a little research so I could avoid being a statistic. Guess what? You probably already know why businesses fail. We all do. Yet, they continue to drop like flies.
Here’s a few of the main reasons new start ups fail:
- No business plan or if they had one is was not well prepared
- No marketing plan
- They did not really know their customers
- They had a bad location
- Not enough cash on hand
- Poor printed material
- No web presence
- No USP
- No phone book listing
- Tried to copy another’s plan
- No demand for the product
Now this is just a short list but if you want to be successful, you must have a well thought out business plan which includes a marketing plan. A good business plan will help you avoid some of the deadly mistakes that can destroy your business.
Here are a couple of places to learn more about how I researched opening a coffee shop. Act on that little voice that keeps popping up in your head. Listen and follow…
