Countdown To 2012 – This Is Not just Another Y2K Scare!
As mentioned in my blog, Countdown To 2012, about the Mayan Prophecy of 2012, I barely noticed the Y2K scare at the turn of the last century. In fact, I partied it up at Disney World, enjoying the hype and the fun-scary preparations, which basically centered around making sure there were fresh batteries in the flashlight in case the lights went out. So when I began to hear a bit about 2012 and the Mayan calendar end times prophecy, I assumed it was the same type of thing. I started a blog, intending to have a bit of fun writing about another popular fad, but it has quickly become apparent that 2012 is in an entirely different league.
The Y2K scare was created by a computer programming glitch and was only a concern for a few years. Although it was feared that there would be serious world wide consequences as the result of time marching on while computer clocks stopped cold at the stroke of midnight New Year’s Eve, technology found a way to adjust. This short-lived man-made crisis was averted and amounted to little. 2012 appears to be something else altogether.
2012 prophecies are thousands of years old, have been recorded by many divergent peoples, and are substantiated by both scientific theory and venerable religious writings. Man is but a bit player in a drama being orchestrated by the universe as the perfect alignment of planets, sun, and stars is arranged to end life on this earth as we know it.
