Can I Really Pay Off My 30 Year Mortgage In 10 Years?

While teaching my financial class one evening, a student asked me, “Can I really pay off my 30 year mortgage in 10 years?”

“Of course, but you have to follow a simple math system.  Can you do elementary math?” I asked.

“Sure!” he said excitedly.  That’s the day that I knew Joe was on his way to debt freedom.

Joe came to my class with several debts, including a numberous credit card payments, car payments, and a big mortgage.  When I explained that it was possible to pay off a 30 year mortgage in 10 years or less,  he raised his eyebrows in disbelief.

“It’s a matter of using the resources that you already have.  In fact, the more debts you have, the faster this system will work,” I explained.  We worked out a reasonable plan that would get Joe completely out of debt, including his mortgage, in under 7 years.  He was amazed.

“Now I can see the end to this mess!”  Joe exclaimed.  He left class ready to try out his new plan to become debt-free.
