Bride Speeches – Tips for Success

Writing a bride speech can be very difficult.  Because it is not very common for the bride to make a speech at her wedding, there are limited examples of bride speeches available to work from.  Here are my three top tips if you want to deliver that perfect toast on your wedding day.

Tip #1.  Be Prepared.

On your wedding day, you are going to have a lot on your mind, so trying to remember your entire speech might not be the easiest thing to do.  You won’t want to forget anyone in case you hurt their feelings and you don’t want your joke or funny antidote to fall flat because you’ve forgotten the most important sentence, so being prepared is vital.

Tip #2.  Remain Calm and Try To Enjoy It.

If you are not a natural public speeker, then you are going to find giving your speech a little more difficult.  Where possible, stay away from too much alcohol before you deliver your speech and a few breathing techniques will help to calm the nerves.  Remember that you are talking to your family and friends, about the man you love.  This should be fun.

Tip #3.  Inject some Humour.

Adding a joke is always good form in wedding speeches.  Finding an appropriate joke is not always easy though.  You might want to consider a one liner or famous quote to get your funny story off the ground.  Remember that in your audience, there are family members who might not approve of anything too lurid, so keep it tasteful, personal and lighthearted.

There are other great ways to profess your love.  Poetry or lines from a favourite song are also great ways to build up bride speeches without having to rely on your own writing skills, just enjoy the moment and remember that no matter what, the people you are talking too are the ones that love you the most in the world.
